How to Prepare for your Grad and Buddy Photos

What you need to know about upcoming grad portraits, group photos, family photos and friendship pictures…

How to book your Cap and Gown appointment online:

Your school will provide you with a link to access the online appointment schedule to book your session.

  • Cap and Gown/Casual sessions are 10 minutes

*Note: Booking is on a first come first serve basis – spots will fill up fast so the sooner you reserve the better chance you will have of getting your preferred date and time.

Fees:

  • Cap and Gown portrait sessions are complimentary. Prints available for purchase

Check-in:

Please arrive at your appointment 10 minutes early so we can check you in.

This will allow us time to pick out the right size cap and gown, and do any last minute hair and makeup adjustments.
*Note: Due to back-to-back appointments, if you are running late your session will be cut short.

If you cannot make any appointments on the selected dates you can reschedule for retakes. There’s a cost of $40 cash for retakes and that goes towards the purchase of a package. *Unless you are sick or away for the first dates

WARDROBE
What you will need to bring:

For the Casual Portrait Station:

  • Feel free to bring team jerseys, props, etc. Make sure they’re pressed and on hangers so they stay neat and unwrinkled.
  • Avoid busy patterns, stripes or logos — they will detract from you, the main subject.

For the Cap and Gown Station:

  • School Uniform: white oxford shirt and tie worn for cap and gown portrait sittings.

At this station you will get the traditional photos that your parents love, plus the yearbook portrait.

Grooming Tips

Hair — Go with what you know:

You will want to feel comfortable and confident at your photo session — it’s usually not the best day to experiment with different or new hairstyles. If you are going to get a haircut, make sure it’s just a trim and not a drastically different hairstyle that you might not feel comfortable with.

*Tip: Bring a brush – wardrobe changes can mess up hair.

Ladies:

Fresh-looking, daytime make-up is best. Try not to go overboard with thick or heavy foundation or cosmetics. Natural tends to be the key word when it comes to great photos. Just do what you usually do everyday. Use a little bit of loose powder to touch-up shiny areas on your face and concealer to lighten up dark spots and cover blemishes. Try a neutral or natural-toned nail polish to make your nails look great.

Gentlemen:

We’re good at retouching our pictures, but even a 5 o’clock shadow can’t be removed. Light stubble can be picked up by the camera, so make sure you shave carefully the morning of, or a couple of hours before your session.

Props

Sports gear, musical instruments:

We want your graduation photos to be a true reflection of who you are, so feel free to bring any accessories that do just that. Items such as musical instruments, sports equipment, etc., are props that will express the real you at this time in your life.
